Stereotype Technology: Gothic Romance!
In this era of social distancing, creating your own goth and industrial playlists to listen to is good, but doesn’t provide the same sense of community. But many clever DJs and club owners have turned to creating virtual club nights via Twitch channels, Zoom “meetings”, IG Live, FB events, and so on, and also include PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, and other payment options for people to tip the hardworking creatures of the night who help provide the backbone (or backbeat) of our community. In December 2019, I had the pleasure of attending the Exposition Vampire – From Dracula to Buffy at the Cinematheque in Bercy Paris. This exposition explores the evolution from Victorian literature to present day the Modern Vampire Mythos in literature and cinema. The exposition was well done with a hallway like entrance, with actual manuscripts from ancient times, costumes from Interview with the Vampire and Bram Stokers Dracula. The only down sides was lack was two of my favorite films Lost Boys and The Hunger and an abrupt ending without a cliffhanger or grande finale ending. If you are in Paris before January 19th I highly recommend checking this exposition out.
