Gargoyles Statuary offers images and accoutrements rooted in antiquity and imagination — unseen things brought to light, to beautify, serve and protect — sacred, profane, whimsical or wicked, always with an eye to excellence.
Beyond the statues and figures, we also carry a wide variety of things in keeping with our spirit and standards, including: Birdbaths, fountains, planters and urns; sacred incense, luminous candles, alluring oils; Tarot decks; T-shirts, amulets, rosaries, articulated rings, and other jewelry and accouterments; and music and art by local artists.
We are always finding new things of interest — or they find us — so come to our Seattle store, and see what’s hanging around!
Even though I had been sewing since I was very little, I didn’t know it was a skill. I sewed clothes for myself here and there, but nothing big. In 2010 one of my friends asked me to make her a couple outfits for Comicon and she loved them. That gave me a little bit of confidence. She introduced me to a theater company who needed a seamstress for an upcoming production, and I took the challenge on. Every actor complimented me on how great their outfits fit their bodies. More confidence built.
Then I started doing some odd jobs on Craigslist, some wins and some crazy people, as it often goes with Craigslist. One day my hubby came home from work with a Cobra Commander XXXL t shirt. All I could think was, “That will never fit me.” So, I cut it up and made a dress. It was really simple, I cut in the sides to give it a more feminine look, opened the neck and put a skirt with matching sleeves on it. The first time I wore it out, all my girlfriends wanted one! They asked why I wasn’t making them for everyone, and that was it. I knew then, that’s what I wanted to do. In 2011 I opened my Etsy shop. I started with only a couple tee shirts, but that grew quickly. In 2012 I started going to farmers markets and recieved a great response to my work. I picked up custom orders and made a lot of friends.
2015 marked the year of change for me. I love my tee shirt dresses, but I decided I needed to move to one signature dress versus many designs in different shapes and sizes. I chose a design that flatters all women. I am really excited about this new direction and can’t wait to share it with all of you!
2017 is showing even more growth and change! I’m heading out to special events and making new things with amazing spandex! Keep an eye on Etsy local for where to find me, and see my new fabric on Facebook @gigglesandhootsclothing
Sugar Skull Culture is an online store and community with a shared love for sugar skulls. We sell and promote fashionable sugar skull and skull-related products which include clothing and accessories, jewelry and home decor. Our own product lines reflect mantras for everyday life displayed in beautifully crafted sugar skull designs.
How did Sugar Skull Culture begin?
Sugar Skull Culture was born in 2014 from a love of sugar skulls and all they represent. While they can now be considered popular culture, their origin and meaning is steeped in history and tradition.
Sugar skulls originate from Mexico, where from 31st October to 2nd November every year they celebrate the lives of dearly departed family and friends. The 2nd November is known as the Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, and can be traced back to ancient traditions among Mexico’s pre-Columbian cultures.
On the Day of the Dead sugar skulls are often used to decorate the gravestones of the deceased. They are known as “sugar skulls” because traditionally they are made out of cane sugar and are decorated with colored foil, icing, beads, and feathers.
Sugar skulls are very colorful and whimsical, not scary at all. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

• Cold Waves V is an all-building event! For the first time, we will have Smart Bar open during the Metro show, offering a full bar, Kumas burgers, Revolution specials and a broadcast of the show with seating available. (Smart Bar will close briefly at 11PM before the ticketed after-shows begin)
• We are proud to welcome back the WAX TRAX! POPUP! Peruse vinyl, posters and shirts from the iconic Chicago institution with rare and collectible items on sale in the Metro store, along with performing band merchandise.
• A portion of the proceeds to benefit Darkest Before Dawn, a charity built to offer support, community and resources to our brothers and sisters in the service and live music industries. Often at high risk for depression, suicide and addiction, along with little to no mental health benefits, these members of our late night community have very little to fall back on when crisis hits. DB4D aims to shed light on these shortfalls in the benefits system and offer help and security to those in need. Our community has lost several well-loved members recently to suicide, addiction and homicide for that matter, and we hope to bring a level of support to these late-evening workers that is sorely missing.

MEND is: The partnership between Kassi Cork, pianist / composer and Max Glascott, technological impresario, DJ and experimental noisemaker.
MEND creates a cohesive mass of music that explores and redefines genre clichés within the bounds of any given track.
Influences range from hip-hop to industrial with nods to dub-step, acid, electro, classical and beyond.
____________
St Griselda
Opening for MEND, St. Griselda will be performing their very first live show in Chicago! A studio project for over 3 years, now the adventure is coming to the stage:
St. Griselda creates dark, melodic electronic music.
We pull ideas from many genres, including circus, dance, steampunk, industrial, trip-hop, classical, and especially musical theater. Our goal is to create a mini-story with each song, so we start with a character and story and build the soundscape around them.
