Bloody Reads…! Book Club #2 – The Haunting of Hill House 02/08 (Chicago)
The second installment of our horror-themed book club will focus on Shirley Jackson’s 1959 classic of psychological terrors, THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE. The Wall Street Journal states the book is “now widely regarded as the greatest haunted-house story ever written.”
Jackson’s novel utilizes the complex interactions between the house and the characters of the novel to elicit deep emotional reactions from readers, relying more on psychological terror than outright horror.
We will meet in the (possibly haunted) back room of Bucket O’ Blood Books & Records (3182 N Elston Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60618) at 8pm on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd. All are welcome. Some light refreshments will be provided, but please feel free to bring something as well.
