As Chicago continues to mourn the loss of legendary nightclub Neo, Eric Richter attempts to fill the void in our hearts and the alternative music community as a whole with his stellar documentary 2350 Last Call: The Neo Story. Metro is pleased to host the documentary’s sole 2018 Chicago screening and Neo reunion on Friday, July 27.
Along with screening the acclaimed documentary, the night will also serve as a homecoming for Neo staffers and stalwarts who helped forge the club’s now-legendary stature in the arts community. Before and after the documentary screening, patrons will be treated to DJ sets from Neo lynchpins Suzanne Shelton, Glenn Russell, Carrie Monster, Jeff Moyer, and Scary Lady Sarah. Limited-edition 2350 Last Call: The Neo Story merchandise will be available for purchase exclusively at the event, as well.
Opening in 1979 and shuttering in 2015, Neo reigned for 36 years as a sanctuary for misfits, weirdos, and outcasts while serving as the breeding ground for myriad fashion and music trends. 2350 Last Call is a requiem for a club that not only outlasted its competitors, but also never lost its grit. Through seas changing and years passing, Neo nevertheless remained committed to celebrating individuality and, of course, dancing till dawn.
