MAY 5 – Rosehill Cemetery Walk (Chicago)
Take a stroll through history in Chicago’s largest cemetery with author, historian, and Atlas Obscura Society Chicago field agent Adam Selzer. One of the oldest “garden cemeteries” in town, Rosehill, is full of heroes, villains, and some lesser-known eccentrics, with some of the city’s most captivating artwork.
Join us for a fascinating (and often hilarious) stroll through history. Sneer at the grave of a notable racist, tip your hat to the man who thwarted a Civil War insurrection, admire a haunting statue that was once in Lincoln Park, puzzle over the mystery of a supposed Revolutionary War soldier, and allow yourself a chuckle at the guy whose name is “Bangs” and whose gravestone features a train going into a tunnel. Every tour is a bit different—there’s always more to discover!
