ACTORS
The term “post-punk,” like many terms with a similar prefix, is firmly planted in a time in history, and signifies an added precision and experimentation to a thrilling genre that has echoed forward in both style and attitude. The Jason Corbett-led outfit ACTORS are standing on the shoulders of titans with their brand of the style, and could almost be referred to as “post-post-punk.” Those who choose not to embrace and study history are often lazy repeaters, but an act like this knows where to cherry pluck from the past and where to build upon it.

Bootblacks
New York post-punk BOOTBLACKS have been enthralling live audiences from the U.S. to Europe since their formation in 2010. BOOTBLACKS’ sound is ably described as a balance of contradictions, pensive and buoyant, referential and modern.

New Canyons
Local outfit NEW CANYONS returns to deliver their extremely likeable take on melodramatic, icy synth pop. Comprised of Andrew Marrah and Adam Stilson (who’s feaured on PANIC PRIEST’s new album), the duo has been dominating the Windy City since they’re debut album, Everyone is Dark (too true). A little electronic mixed with a little shoegaze, they’ve blown us away more than once and we’re thrilled to have them back.

The Bellwether Syndicate DJs
THE BELLWETHER SYNDICATE DJs will be spinnin’ swell to set the night straight.
